Liz Slagus Key Note Speaker - Liz Slagus

Liz Slagus is a cultural worker who specialises in experimental and innovative arts programming and education. She is currently Director of Education and Public Programs at Eyebeam, a new media arts centre, in New York City.

Liz was recently appointed Creative Innovator in Residence, through a fellowship arrangement with Arts Queensland and Queensland University of Technology. Liz will be contributing to the planning process to infuse creative use of arts and technology in programming for The Edge. Scheduled to open in late 2009, The Edge will be a new space for digital culture, ideas and innovation at the State Library of Queensland.

Since 1999, Liz has been with Eyebeam where she has developed, managed and coordinated a variety of educational and learning programs for Eyebeam. These programs range from Digital Day Camp, an annual summer program that uses an arts-based curriculum to teach students about new technologies, to Girls-Eye View, an after school program encouraging girls to use technology. Under Liz’s direction, Eyebeam offers a wide variety of school, youth, & family-related workshops and programs that aim to enhance digital literacy as well as promoting new media arts in a creative learning environment.
