About MetLib
Scope
The Metropolitan Libraries Section is a thriving network for the exchange of information and professional experiences, primarily between public libraries of cities serving populations of 400,000 or more. Libraries serving wide and diverse geographical areas with similar or larger populations are also included.
History
The Metropolitan Libraries Section, formerly the
Round Table of the International Association of
Metropolitan Libraries (INTAMEL) dates its origin back
to 1966. Since 1968, INTAMEL has held an annual
conference hosted by a different library system from
around the world. It became a Section of IFLA in
January 2004.
